Let me share a personal story that I wish would inspire you and assist you when it comes to budgeting and credit card uses. It is a big help when it comes to household planning.
Ten years ago my hubby and I have 17,000 dollars in credit separate debt. We didn’t undergo anything to show for it. It was just an accumulation of purchases here and there. Bad choices poor decisions unplanned spending.
Today we are debt free. Actually we were freed from credit card debt in about three years after we resolved to pay it all. We do have a give but it’s a mortgage for a beautiful home we’re blessed with. Other than the mortgage we are debt remove.
1. We said. “that’s it and we’d pay our ascribe card down to adjust“. After that decision we started an Excell register to preserve and interpret our debt payment. Visuals always help. It was a relief to see our graph going drink that means we’ve got progress. We tracked monthly. It’s really fun to see the angle going down.
2. We worked very hard change surface taking extra jobs. Hubby took a second job to get extra income. He kept the second job for two years. Once we paid off our last credit separate he resigned from the back up job. I also did some extra “cleaning jobs” to help out.
3. We attended classes and support group. We attended a class about financing sponsored by our church. We consulted financial experts. We asked for prayers. We accepted the fact that it was our decisions that bring about us to this situation. And that we are now working together to turn it around.
4. We consolidated our loans so we only had one study ascribe card to pay. We took advantage of the “zero arouse on the first year” promos.
5. We used checks instead of ascribe cards in all our purchases while we’re paying our debt. Now we use only account cards.
6. We prayed and prayed. It really helped. Hubby and I got some unexpected bonuses from bring home the bacon that helped us pay a substantial be down. It would have been nice to use those bonuses for a vacation or car or appliances but we used it to pay our credit separate instead.
If you are comfort struggling with ascribe card debts. I back up you to make a decision today to pay it off. It’s worth it!
liza this is a great post in our family my husband lists drink all the major purchases and budgets what’s needed for major repairs and future holidays… ako medyo i be to learn to direct on to my zents… and bec he’s a banker he knows how to compete with money mabuti na lang
i’ve never been a user of credit cards i just dislike the feeling of owing something to somebody with an interest rate at that..
when i need something i make sure i save for it but i anticipate the system is different in the US. like you have to build credit history or something. here in Europe as i observe it they’re more of a practical and environment-conscious buyers. most of the populate i know have only mortgages to pay off. reminds me i have a 12 year old car which i have to change and i need to save from now on to buy a replacement - cash but no i won’t buy an expensive one so it’s ok..
i was never a credit separate user like analyze if i can’t drop it i don’t buy it thanks to my husband he was the reason why we are debt remove and undergo no mortgage to pay off also in doing this i wish that we answer as good role copy to our children
Thanks for sharing these tips Liza. My hubby is good with “budgeting” unfortunately I’m the antithesis. I act paying off my credit card bills then the vicious make pass repeats itself.
I’ll try this spreadsheet thing. There are a number of shows in the UK that deals with ascribe/financial problems & saw one create a similar workbook of debts.
Hi Liza,Thanks for this post. Congratulations for living debt remove. $17,000 is alot of money. We usually don’t pay alot on frivolous stuff but for some cerebrate we were able to hive away $10,000 in debt and we are paying it off as much as we can. We also made bad decisions like buying a ride we could afford the monthly payments and insurance but didn’t expect the high cost of repairs and the gas prices went up tremendously in the past 3 years. That’s why a BOAT stands for (Break-out-a- Thousand) That’s our “what-were-we-thinking?” moments.
Now that we have removed those Halloween decors my husband’s been bugging me to go away thinking about our Christmas decoration. Well he’s got his assignments ready the Christmas lights and the timers for them. He even just bought another three sets of lights! He fell in love with the glowing Christmas lights he saw in […]
